ABOUT THE AUDI A8

The Audi A8 is a full-size luxury sedan competing at the top of the market against rivals like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7 Series. Aimed at executives and luxury buyers who prioritize refinement and technology, the 2020 and 2021 A8 represents Audi's flagship effort. From a safety standpoint, however, this prestigious nameplate carries some important caveats that shoppers should weigh carefully before signing.

VERDICT

The 2021 Audi A8 has not been crash-tested by NHTSA, so it carries no Safety Index. Its safety record here is built from 10 recalls and 5 owner complaints on file, giving it a moderate recall and complaint burden.

WHAT REVIEWERS SAY

Reviewers generally praise the A8 for its exceptionally composed ride, hushed cabin, and high-quality interior materials that set a strong benchmark in the full-size luxury segment. Driving dynamics are described as polished and confidence-inspiring, and the technology suite draws consistent admiration. Some reviewers note the interior design feels slightly more conservative compared to certain European rivals.
