VERDICT

The 2020 Genesis G70 presents an unusual safety profile due to the complete absence of NHTSA crash-test data; no star ratings are available, nor is a Safety Index score. This lack of information means performance in a collision is unquantified by federal testing. However, the vehicle's recall and complaint record is notably heavy. Three open or historical recall campaigns have been issued, one of which is a park-outside directive linked to the ABS module. Furthermore, 12 owner-reported complaints detail issues across the fuel system, electrical system, and other components. This documented history of recalls and complaints, despite the lack of crash-test data, warrants close scrutiny from prospective buyers.

The 2020 Genesis G70 was not crash-tested by NHTSA, carries a Heavy recall and complaint burden band, and is subject to three recall campaigns including one park-outside directive, according to NHTSA federal safety data.

ANALYSISHow safe is the 2020 Genesis G70?

A park-outside advisory for a potential ABS module fire risk defines the 2020 Genesis G70's federal recall record. This serious directive from federal regulators, urging owners not to garage the vehicle until a remedy is applied, significantly shapes the vehicle's safety profile. Two additional recall campaigns, one addressing the fuel pump control module and another concerning the turbocharger, further contribute to the G70's record of federal actions. The 2020 Genesis G70 is accordingly placed in the Heavy recall and complaint burden band, the most elevated tier in our classification. This designation is also informed by 12 unverified owner complaints. These allegations primarily concentrate on the fuel and propulsion system and the electrical system, and include one reported fire incident. This Heavy band classification reflects the combined weight of these federal actions and reported concerns, not a crash-test outcome, as no crash-test results for this generation are available in our data.
