The Hyundai Veloster N is a compact performance hatchback aimed squarely at driving enthusiasts who want genuine hot-hatch thrills without the premium price tag. Sold in the United States from the 2019 model year onward, it occupies a niche corner of the market where fun-to-drive dynamics and everyday practicality are expected to coexist. Its target buyer is younger, engaged, and car-passionate.
The 2019 Hyundai Veloster N has not been crash-tested by NHTSA, so it carries no Safety Index. Its safety record here is built from 1 recall and 38 owner complaints on file, giving it a light recall and complaint burden.
- shoppers who want the full federal safety picture in one place
Reviewers generally praise the Veloster N for its sharp, engaging driving dynamics and surprisingly refined ride quality given its performance focus. Steering feel and chassis balance draw consistent admiration. Interior materials are considered adequate rather than impressive for the segment, and the asymmetric three-door layout divides opinion on practicality, but most reviewers agree it offers strong value as a driver-focused compact hatchback.
