2022 Jeep Compass
Federal crash-test performance, recalls, and complaints, scored into one NHTSA Safety Index.
The Jeep Compass is a compact SUV aimed at buyers who want a capable, trail-rated-adjacent vehicle without stepping up to the larger Grand Cherokee. Positioned squarely in one of the most competitive segments in the US market, the Compass targets young families and urban adventurers who want Jeep's rugged identity in a more manageable, affordable package. Coverage here spans model years 2019 through 2025.
The 2022 Jeep Compass earns an NHTSA Safety Index of 70 out of 100, an average result driven by its federal crash-test stars and its recall record. It has 4 recalls on record, reflected in the score.
- urban drivers exposed to side-impact risk
Reviewers generally find the Jeep Compass appealing for its brand identity and available all-wheel-drive capability in its class, but they tend to note that the interior quality and powertrain refinement lag behind some rivals. Most regard it as a competent rather than class-leading compact SUV, better suited to buyers who specifically value the Jeep nameplate.
