The 2019 Lexus GS is a rear-wheel-drive luxury sport sedan competing against German stalwarts in the midsize premium segment. Aimed at driving enthusiasts who want Toyota-backed refinement with a sportier edge than the ES, the GS occupies a distinct niche for buyers who prioritize road feel alongside upscale cabin appointments. It is a mature, late-generation model entering its final years of production.
The 2019 Lexus Gs has not been crash-tested by NHTSA, so it carries no Safety Index. Its safety record here is built from 1 recall and 1 owner complaint on file, giving it a light recall and complaint burden.

Reviewers generally describe the GS as one of the more engaging choices in the luxury midsize sedan class, praising its composed ride, responsive steering, and well-finished cabin materials. Most note that infotainment controls feel dated compared to European competitors, but overall refinement and front-seat comfort draw consistent approval. It is broadly regarded as a polished, driver-focused alternative to the more comfort-oriented ES.
