The 2019 Lexus GS 300 is a rear-wheel-drive luxury sport sedan competing in the midsize premium segment against the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. It targets buyers who want a polished, driver-focused alternative to German rivals, wrapped in Lexus refinement and backed by Toyota's reputation for build quality. The GS 300 occupies the entry tier of the GS lineup, making it the most accessible path into this long-running nameplate.
The 2019 Lexus Gs300 has not been crash-tested by NHTSA, so it carries no Safety Index. Its safety record here is built from 2 recalls and 1 owner complaint on file, giving it a light recall and complaint burden.

Reviewers generally praise the 2019 GS 300 for its composed, engaging driving dynamics, well-crafted interior materials, and a quieter, more refined cabin than many segment rivals. They tend to note that the infotainment interface feels dated compared to German competitors and that the rear seat offers less space than some alternatives, though overall comfort and build quality draw consistent appreciation.
