2019 Toyota Corolla

The Toyota Corolla Hatchback slots into the compact car segment as a practical, sport-tinged alternative to the traditional Corolla sedan. Aimed at younger buyers and urban commuters who want efficiency without sacrificing a bit of driving personality, the hatchback body style adds cargo versatility and a lower roofline that gives it a distinctly more athletic stance than its sedan sibling.
The 2019 Toyota Corolla earns an NHTSA Safety Index of 80 out of 100, an strong result driven by its federal crash-test stars and its recall record. It has 5 recalls on record, reflected in the score.
- new and teen drivers who want standard crash-avoidance tech
- urban drivers exposed to side-impact risk
Reviewers generally regard the Corolla Hatchback as a well-rounded compact that punches above its price point in refinement and practicality. They tend to praise its composed driving character and solid build quality, while occasionally noting the powertrain options feel modest for drivers seeking more performance. It is broadly considered a sensible, trustworthy choice in the segment.
