CRASH
DATANot crash-tested
The Toyota Supra returned for the 2020 model year as a two-seat sports coupe developed in partnership with BMW, slotting into a segment dominated by driver-focused performance machines. Aimed squarely at enthusiasts who want a factory-backed sports car with genuine heritage, the fifth-generation Supra carries a storied nameplate into modern traffic, but shoppers owe it to themselves to examine the safety record alongside the performance pedigree.
NHTSA has not crash-tested the 2020 Toyota Supra, but it carries a park-outside or do-not-drive recall, which is the most serious class of safety campaign. Treat the recall status below as urgent and confirm your VIN with NHTSA.
- shoppers who want the full federal safety picture in one place
Reviewers generally regard the Supra as an engaging, well-sorted sports car with sharp steering and a willing turbocharged engine. Most praise its driving dynamics and cockpit refinement, noting that the BMW-sourced interior brings a higher level of fit and finish than previous generations. Some reviewers raise questions about the depth of Toyota's involvement in the platform and whether the driving experience fully justifies the price of entry.
