The Volkswagen Arteon SE is a sleek, fastback four-door sedan competing in the upper end of the midsize car segment. Positioned as a near-luxury alternative to mainstream family sedans, it targets style-conscious buyers who want European refinement without a premium-brand price tag. With its low roofline and upscale cabin ambitions, the Arteon appeals to drivers who prioritize aesthetics and driving character alongside everyday practicality.
The 2023 Volkswagen Arteon SE has not been crash-tested by NHTSA, so it carries no Safety Index. Its safety record here is built from 1 recall and 13 owner complaints on file, giving it a light recall and complaint burden.

Reviewers generally praise the Arteon for its distinctive fastback styling and composed, refined driving dynamics that feel genuinely European in character. Interior materials and overall cabin fit tend to draw positive attention for the price point. Some reviewers note that the sloping roofline compromises rear headroom, and a few point to infotainment responsiveness as an area that falls short of the car's otherwise polished presentation.
