ABOUT THE JEEP GLADIATOR

The Jeep Gladiator is a midsize pickup truck - not a sedan - built on the iconic Wrangler platform and aimed squarely at off-road enthusiasts who also need genuine truck utility. Sold in model years 2020 through 2025, it occupies a niche segment as one of the few body-on-frame, convertible-roof pickups on the market, appealing to adventure-oriented buyers who want trail capability alongside everyday hauling.

VERDICT

The 2026 Jeep Gladiator earns an NHTSA Safety Index of 73 out of 100, an average result driven by its federal crash-test stars and its recall record. It has 1 recall on record, reflected in the score.

WHAT REVIEWERS SAY

Reviewers generally praise the Gladiator for its off-road capability, open-air driving experience, and the novelty of combining Wrangler DNA with a pickup bed. Most acknowledge it sacrifices on-road refinement, fuel efficiency, and - relevant to our focus here - passive safety credentials compared to more mainstream midsize truck competitors.
