The Chevrolet Silverado 2500 is a heavy-duty full-size pickup truck built for buyers who need serious towing and hauling capability. Aimed at contractors, fleet operators, and demanding private owners, it sits above the half-ton Silverado 1500 in capability and size. Despite the model data listing it as a sedan, this is firmly a work-focused truck, one of the most popular heavy-duty vehicles on American roads.
NHTSA has not crash-tested the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, but it carries a park-outside or do-not-drive recall, which is the most serious class of safety campaign. Treat the recall status below as urgent and confirm your VIN with NHTSA.
- shoppers who want the full federal safety picture in one place
Reviewers generally regard the Silverado 2500 as a highly capable heavy-duty truck that competes strongly on towing performance and powertrain options. Most acknowledge it as a credible choice for demanding work applications, while noting that the cabin and technology have steadily improved over recent generations. Ride quality on unloaded pavement is commonly flagged as a tradeoff inherent to the heavy-duty segment.
